I am passionate about weddings, sharing in your celebration and providing the sound and lighting to make your day one to remember for both you and your guests. Whether you’re looking for an elegant and subtle feel for your wedding reception or something more funky and unusual, I can provide you with a service to suit your wedding plans.
Music can help create the atmosphere for different parts of your wedding day, from carefully selected background music during your wedding breakfast to your favourite party tracks being played as you dance the night away with your evening guests. Lighting focused on the dance floor area can also play a huge part in setting the scene for special moments such as your first dance. Carefully controlled lighting can be used to compliment your venue and create some scenes for your wedding photographer to capture.
Venue lighting is a great way to decorate the walls and ceiling of your function room in any colour scheme you wish. This can create subtle splashes of colour during the daytime and a fantastic ambience during the evening reception. A wonderful backdrop for photographs and creates the perfect atmosphere for an evening of dancing and enjoyment.
Presentation is an important part of your wedding day and I believe my equipment should blend in to your venue in the most discreet way possible. I position my equipment carefully and neatly, allowing me to provide the sound and lighting you require without being obtrusive.
I can use a microphone to make clear and concise announcements if required, for example: - introducing the first dance - encouraging music requests from guests - announcing other formal parts of the evening or events as required
From the moment you decide to book my wedding DJ services we can work together to plan every detail of your wedding celebration. I always encourage my clients to meet up with me at least once in person, as this allows me to understand in detail what your requirements are. If a meeting in person is not possible then we can liaise by phone or email to discuss your music choices, timings, lighting preferences and any other requirements that you may have.

I work across the North East region of the UK and I have performed at weddings in County Durham, Northumberland, Teeside, Tyneside, North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. I provide my wedding DJ and disco services directly to my clients so I can work at any venue in any location, subject to availability.
Evening Wedding Disco
This is the core DJ service that I can provide for your wedding celebration. An evening wedding disco service includes Alan Rees as your DJ, a suitable sound system and lighting to cover the dancefloor area of your function room or marquee. We can meet in person or liaise by phone or e-mail to discuss all of your requirements for the evening in detail. Guide price for a 5 hour evening disco would be £395.00
Venue Lighting
This is a popular wedding service involving the use of low level led lighting placed around the walls of your function room or marquee. These lights can be set to any colour you desire and create a unique visual effect and provide a great backdrop for wedding photographs. They can be used to totally transform plain rooms with a wash of colour or to highlight features of character packed rooms with your personal colour choice. This service is also referred to as uplighting or mood lighting.
Venue lighting can be installed for the evening part of your wedding reception or on the morning of your wedding. If the lighting is installed on the morning then you can enjoy the subtle effect of the venue lighting in daylight and the transforming effect as night falls.
This service is a quick and very cost effective way to add a personal touch of decoration to an entire room and a popular choice for weddings is to match the venue lighting colour to your wedding theme or accent colour. Guide price for venue lighting one medium sized (100 to 150 guests) room would be £195.00
NEW - Wedding Monogram Projection
Personalised monogram projection with you choice of initials, wedding date, logo or anything that you can imagine! A lovely touch for photographs and talking point for guests as they enter the room for the first time.
Crisp white text or images to your own design which can be projected onto the dancefloor, walls or ceiling of your venue.
The price for this service is £75.00 when booked with any evening disco package.
Photo Slideshow service
This service includes the supply of one of my 42” LCD flat screen and mounting stand to show your selection of photographs or video, for you and your guests to enjoy.
Popular choices of photographs to show are:
- Photographs from your wedding day (usually provided by your photographer or from guests camera’s) this allows you and your guests to catch up on moments they may have missed throughout the day.
- A selection if photographs from past events, holidays and family snaps. This can be a great way to share some of your special memories with relatives and friends that you may not have seen for some time.
The TV can be discretely positioned in a convenient part of your function room or alternatively in a separate bar or lounge area to create another focal point for your guests. This service is always very popular and gets a crowd of people gathered around to view your slideshow.
This service can also be used as an aide for speeches, to show any images, video or presentations that you may have planned, such as best men’s speeches. Guide price for my photo slideshow service would be £125.00
Daytime background music and PA for speeches
Background music can help set the mood for your wedding day and a well planned playlist can set the tone for a great evening of dancing later. I can provide a discrete music system to play your selection of background music during the wedding breakfast or any other part of your wedding day. Perhaps you would like classical music to play as your guests arrive at your venue or instrumental music as your guests enjoy a drink in between formal proceedings.
This service is available for use both inside and outside, subject to the great British weather! We can carefully plan your background music playlist to create your own custom-made soundtrack. As part of this service I can also offer the facility to use radio microphones for your wedding speeches to ensure all of your guests hear every word.
Guide price for a daytime background music service would be £195.00
Ceremony music
I can provide a discrete managed high quality music system for your wedding ceremony. Together we can create the perfect soundtrack for your ceremony. Your selection of music played at the appropriate levels and carefully faded in and out at the perfect moments.
